3. "As mentioned earlier,..." or maybe
what's another way to say 'as i mentioned before'?
Journal Timeline: As mentioned on the syllabus, our major class project this semester will be the compilation of a peer-reviewed class journal. Here are the important deadlines that be observed, if this ambitious endeavor is to be completed on schedule.
i really need other ways to say: 'as I mentioned before'!!
Is 'as mentioned' also OK instead of 'as was mentioned'? just like we omit a relative clause and a be-verb? (e.g He is a doctor who was born in 1980=> He is a doctor born in 1980)
Mentioned above is a more typical phrase in writing than it would be in speaking. In speech, I would expect to hear as I said previously or as previously mentioned, or something similar. "As I previously mentioned" is better, but a second problem is "previously." It's an ugly, writerly adverb. You would never talk like that, would you? You'd probably say something like "as I mentioned earlier" or "as I mentioned before."One problem with "as previously mentioned" is that it's passive. WHO previously mentioned? I realize the answer is obvious: you're the writer, so of course you are also the mentioner. But the problem with passive writing isn't that it's unclear; the problem is that it's un-evocative. "As previously mentioned" doesn't project an image into the mind's eye. Since your whole goal is to prompt thought ("please remember!"), you don't want to shut the reader's mind down at this point in your writing. (Why would you want to do that at any point in your writing?)I've heard these two sentences a lot "as you said " and "as you mentioned".I'm a bit confused about them. I want to ask: what's the difference between these two sentences:The question is what do you do in your free time and i have just been talking about sport, so instead of saying again 'i play basketball' i want to say, as i mentioned before i play basketball' or 'like i said earlier' something to that effect.Glad you visited this page with a sentence for mentioned.
