I also was told that in being afraid to tell people I was quitting I was leaving the door open to failing. I took that to heart. I started telling people I had quit and even posted to my Facebook wall when I had 1 week smoke free.

Had a great time on oahu but beware of the all you can eat buffet at perrys smorgy.
Experience the wonderful atmosphere of Smorgy's set amidst the magnificent Bundoora Park. The spectacular erupting volcano lights the night sky against the backdrop of the city skyline. Large waterfalls and rainforests with creeks and pools enrich the dining experience. They all agreed on having an event called, "Apple Smorgy Days," consisting of a smorgasbord of apple desserts made by each family's respective farm. This event was to be held at El Dorado Orchards, largely because it was the only farm that had flat land! The farmers used overturned apple bins with sheets of plywood across them to create serving tables. Radio stations were called and local newspapers were notified, but the big question remained, would anybody come?I have been there just recently for the first time in a few years. i was at first surprised that the price had increased but lets be honest, prices are going up everywhere. for what smorgy's actually provides, which is a four course meal for 26 bucks i dont believe that many other restaurants can beat that price. the food is good and the drinks are also reasonably pricedThe "Apple Smorgy Days" were held here at El Dorado Orchards until 1972, because by this time, much to the success of the event, other ranch locations were able to set up bake shops and picnic areas elsewhere on the hill to welcome guests!

If she is really set on a smorgasboard & you persuade her to travel a few Kms, try the Templestowe Hotel. Same sort of deal as Smorgies but a step up in class & you can see the chefs (cooks?) preparing the food behind the food bars and they serve some of the hot dishes as in a carvery. Have the usual 2 or 3 soups, lots of pastas, lots of roasts, pizza, prawns, fish, asian dishes etc. Range of deserts & I think an ice cream machine. Might be an alternative.

Having worked in hospitality myself I am very wary of smorgasbords....

41 year smoker wants to see her grandchildren grow up.

Coffee, stress, driving. There's a lot of things that make you reach for a cigarette. And if you can't get past these triggers, quitting smoking can seem next to impossible.

I think she's really pushing for Smorgy's coz it's like a block away from her house. *HUGE SIGH*

Congrats all you Ex'ers and keep adding those smoke free days.

I love Perry's Smorgy. Why? I miss having these types of places at home. Hometown Buffet is no substitute. I like having my chinese food and a good mixture of american food. The soups are eh.

But why the four stars? When I visited on April 30, 2010,there was this man at the meat carving station. He was so into his work. he had a really flirty way he asked customers if they wanted some roast beef. I was getting soup and he in a sly manner started to chat it up with me and ask if I wanted some of the beef at the station over here. I gladly took some. Where we were sitting we could watch him and he was just a sight. He would carefully add juice to the meat, sharpen his knife, and flirt with the passers by. Now you tell me where you can get stuff like that?
